How to Create Wellness and Relaxation in Every Room of Your Home

Hello, lovely friends! I’m so excited you’re here today because we’re diving into something close to my heart: creating wellness and relaxation in every room of your home. As a mom and business owner, I know how busy and hectic our days can become. It’s a whirlwind! Our homes can easily be forgotten about and/or make us feel overwhelmed with how messy they become….even after we just cleaned! We don’t realize how much our surroundings affect our mood and well-being. Today, we’re going to explore how you can bring a sense of calm and peace into every corner of your home, creating a space that feels like a true haven. Whether you’re looking for simple changes or a complete transformation, this guide will help you infuse your home with the tranquility we all crave.

An Organized Entryway

Our home’s first impression of calm is our Entryway. This could be either your formal entryway or a mudroom. Any area that you use most often to enter when you get home. Keep it clutter-free. Organize this space in a way that you will be able to upkeep. This space is one of the messiest areas in a home, especially if it is a type of mudroom. Adding baskets or bins for items that will stay in the entryway is a great way keep the space tidy. When we first step into our home each day, it does not feel good to immediately see clutter and chaos. And the entryway sometimes is a place holder for things coming in or out so try to take a little time to clean it up before the clutter piles up. A cute dish to throw keys in or a basket to hold shoes are stylish ways to add organization.

Try adding natural elements such as plants or calming artwork. This will immediately make you feel good and happy to be home. Soft lighting with a stylish look, such as a lamp will also add to the ambiance as you are not greeted with harsh bright lights.

A Cozy Living Room

The living room is the most relaxing room of the home. It is where we curl up on the sofa, enjoy time with family, etc. You want to create a calming palette by choosing soft, neutral tones. If brighter colors make you feel good, try mixing a few bright shades with a few neutral shades. The colors, lighting, and décor choices we make affect our emotions and can uplift or dampen our spirits.

Incorporate cozy textures such as softs rugs, throws and pillows for a soothing vibe. When choosing a sofa for your living room, besides the feel and look, consider the layout and space around it for walking. You want to make sure the size of the sofa works well in your space while creating an open walkway for good flow. Adding a reading chair and some of your favorite books is also a great touch to encourage taking time for yourself.

A Relaxing Bedroom

Our bedrooms are our sanctuaries for rest. Sleep is very important, so our bedrooms should be designed in a way that promotes the best sleep and relaxation. Keep it clutter-free and minimalistic. This doesn’t mean your closet has to be minimal! We just don’t want our bedrooms to feel stressful by visual clutter.  I love using beige, taupes and soft shades of white in bedrooms to give a crisp, soothing feel.

Use soft, warm lighting to set a relaxing mood. You may have a chandelier that gives off brighter lights for when dressing, etc., but also incorporate lamps or wall sconces for reading in bed. You can add candles or diffusers to give off calming scents that can also get you ready for a good night of sleep. My favorite is lavender before bed!

A Tranquil Spa Like Bathroom

I don’t know about you but I love the feeling I have while spending a day at spa. I feel the most at peace and as if I’m living my best life! We might not be able to have all the spa features in our home bathrooms but we can still have a little bit of that feeling.

Stick to a light, calming color scheme without having busy tile patterns on the walls. Create a clean and simple aesthetic by adding a few plants, nature inspired décor, and/or candles for a spa feel. I love having a few oils or favorite serums on display. Invest in plush towels and maybe even a towel warmer for extra spa vibes. These small touches will truly elevate relaxation and take our self care routines to the next level.

A Calming and Organized Kitchen

Embrace simplicity, focusing on decluttering cabinets and creating a functional layout. Organize your drawers and cabinets by task-like items, for example, when you are cooking at your stove, pans, pots and spatulas should all be easily accessible. Try to keep counters clear, but do add a few personal touches such as plants, artwork, or cookbook display. Display soaps in pretty jars along with a cute scrub brush in a tray, this makes doing dishes feel fancy! Adding some cleaning products that smell nice also help since keeping the kitchen clean is the number one way to not feel stressed in our kitchens.

A Peaceful Home Office

The most important way to keep an office feeling peaceful is to keep it tidy and the desk distraction-free as it can quickly become a catch all.  Clutter will create a stressful feeling while working throughout the day. To balance work and wellness, add personal touches such as soft lighting, a plant, motivational or calming artwork (whatever would make you feel good while working). Why not add a candle or a diffuser? This could feel relaxing while needing to get a stressful project done. Just as a small wireless speaker could be good for playing upbeat music when needed. Our home offices are a great place for pops of color as we want to feel energized and motivated to complete our tasks for the day.

Our homes really impact our well-being, influencing our mood, productivity, and even physical health. No matter the size or budget, it’s about creating a space that feels good and reflects what’s most important to you. We live busy lives and our homes are where we return after a long day to relax and recharge. We shouldn't feel stressed or anxious in our own space. This is why thoughtful space planning, décor that brings you joy, and beautiful aesthetics are essential to designing a home that nurtures your well-being. I hope this will help get you started in creating your personal haven.
